Top Tip Tuesday #1

Always Keep Your Scraps.

I keep a designated scrap box, as you can always find a use for them! Here are 5 examples of what you can do with your scraps
  • Use your paper punches on them,
  • Cut out small embellishments such as hearts and stars to add the finishing touch to cards or scrapbook layouts,
  • Make tags or banners for sentiments or decoration,
  • Create thin strips to piece together and make a background,
  • Use them for paper piecing with your stamps.

The Beginning of Top Tips?

I've been thinking about doing a regular segment to keep me more motivated and up to date with my blog, and I've come up with the idea of "Top Tips".

I find it really useful hearing about what other people do and finding out what little tips people have so I thought I would share mine! Maybe once a fortnight or once a week, I havent quite decided yet, but it wont be any longer than two weeks apart.

I'm planning on making it Top Tip Tuesday, so the first one should be this tuesday coming up.

I've also had some time recently to make a few cards so I've got some good blog post material to be getting on with.

So stay tuned :)

You're the Best

Hello again, today I have a card that I made using the Avery Elle - Petals and Stems and the Handwritten Notes stamp sets.

The background piece is made from some white card run through my cuttlebug with a flower patterned embossing folder (I believe it is from lifestyle crafts). I then rubbed over it lightly with a hero arts yellow shadow ink pad.

I stamped the flowers and leaves also in hero arts shadow ink colours and then die cut them with the matching dies.

Kiss Kiss, I love u.

Hello there, today I have a card made from the Mama Elephant - Pandamonium stamp set.

I stamped the sentiment and the little pandas in black pigment ink onto some plain white card. The background was made by stamping the small heart images that come in the stamp set in versamark ink and sprinkling with two different colours of embossing powder, pink and gold.

I then stamped and fussy cut the small red heart to go between the pandas using a red pigment ink.

I adhered all of the elements with some foam tape, and voilĂ .

Avery Elle Challenge #22: Stripes

Hello there and today I have a birthday card I made for a good friend of mine, so hopefully she doesn't see this before I give it to her :P

I cut out 3 balloon shapes from some striped paper using the Avery Elle Balloons Elle-ments. The sentiment is also from an Avery Elle stamp set called Cake & Candles.

I adhered these some some dark woodgrain paper from Amy Tangerine Cut & Paste 12x12 paper pad and drew in the balloon strings with a black pen.

I then added some enamel dots around the sentiment to make it stand out.

I am also entering this card in the Avery Elle Challenge #22: Stripes.

Thanks for reading!

Sparkle and Shine Challenge Blog: Good Luck

On my blog today, I have made a card for the brand new Sparkle and Shine Challenge Blog

The card needs to be inspired by the four leaf clover, so I chose to make a good luck card with a green theme, and I couldn't forget the sequins! I tried to do something different with them and shaped the sequins to look like a flower.

For this card I used:
  • Pretty Pink Posh - Stitched Duo 3 die
  • Avery Elle - Pinked Elle-ments dies
  • Gorjuss - The Fox stamp set
  • Clearly Besotted Stamps - Many Mini Messages

I am also entering this card in the Curtain Call challenge as it also fits the theme over there!

Go check both of these excellent challenges out! Even if you don't enter, you can get some brilliant inspiration from the design teams, the guest designers and all the other entries! :)

Thanks for stopping by!
