Ink Swatches

If you have a lot of colours of ink and struggle to choose between colours then this could work for you. 

I find it helpful to have samples of the different colours of ink that I have on hand so that I can quickly grab them and figure out what colours I want to use, without the hassle of getting all of my inks out. Because I dont have much space in my flat, all of my supplies are constantly packed away, so everytime I want to use something I have to get it out. This is a great way to avoid getting all of my inks out everytime, this way I can decide which colours I want and just go get them. 

Jennifer McGuire has some excellent free Ink Swatch printable files that go great into 2x2 slots and this is what I use for mine.

Avery Elle | Party Animal

Hello there! Thought I'd pop in this evening with a new card. This is a bit of a different style for me with all the bright colours but I think it worked out quite well. 

I started by stamping out the balloon dog and bunny lots of times from the stamp sets Party Animal & Party Bunny by Avery Elle using the Avery Elle Pigment Inks in colours Lemon Grass, Raspberry, Fizz & Aquamarine.

I fussy cut out all of the balloon animals and then adhered them to my card base with my rediscovered hot glue gun. I rearranged the animals on my card base first before gluing them down to make sure I had an even spread of the colours and that as much white space was covered as possible. 

Because the background was so colourful, I wanted the sentiment piece to be quite plain. To create my sentiment I used the Simon Says Stamp Happy Bubble Stamps and Dies. I cut the bubble out of some white card and stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I adhered this to the card using 3D foam pads to raise it from the background.

Masculine Birthday Card using Avery Elle Brushed

Hello folks, today I would like to share an (almost) one layer card with you.

I wanted to experiment using my new Avery Elle Pigment Inks and I chose the Brushed stamp set, also by Avery Elle, to create this card. 

The inks colours I used were Lemon Grass, Aquamarine, Mint to Be & Sapphire to give a more masculine feel to the card. I stamped these colours using the various brush stroke and ink splatt stamps.

I then stamped the "happy birthday" greeting in some black pigment ink from dovecraft and attached the panel to some kraft cardstock.

Voilà.

I've been wanting to purchase some new inks for a while as I don't really have a colour selection at all. So, I'd saved up some money and finally bit the bullet and purchased the full set of Avery Elle Pigment Inks. In the UK these are quite hard to get, as are pretty much all american brands, so I had them shipped directly from the USA, they actually turned out to be a MASSIVE bargain which made me rather happy :p

Regardless of the bargain, I opted for these inks to try as the set contains a good range of colours, and there aren't too many colours so I couldn't buy them all in one go. I wanted a good solid set of colours, without having to decide which ones to buy and, unless Avery Elle Bring out any other colours, I now have a complete collection. 

The colours from left to right are: 

Cherry, Mimosa, Mint To Be, 

Sapphire, Sea Glass, Fizz,

Pixie, Aquamarine, Raspberry,

Celery, Sugar Plum, Lemon Grass,

Fog, Pure White, Orchid

After receiving them I had a little bit of a play and made myself a little swatch colour chart using the Avery Elle Petals and Stems stamp set. 

The inks stamped out well and had a good even coverage. I've never stamped using pigment inks before so this was a bit of a test, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it!
